Apple delays the iPhone SE Plus until 2021

The 2020 iPhone SE was just been announced and while we also expected the bigger iPhone SE Plus to come out with it, the bigger sibling is nowhere to be seen, and that might be the case until 2021.say

In our early iPhone rumor roundup, there’s a leak that a ‘Plus’ version of the second-generation iPhone SE might be coming in the first half of 2021. Not too long ago, we published a report that the iPhone SE Plus is already in the works. We even anticipated that it will be unveiled alongside the new iPhone SE this first half of 2020.

But as told by the well-known leakster Ming Chi-Kuo, the much-anticipated iPhone SE Plus will be postponed until the second half of 2021. As expected with the iPhone SE series, it will have newer internals in an older body to lessen its cost.

More reports say two different screen sizes are being considered. First option is to incorporate the 5.5-inch Retina Display just like on the older iPhone 8 Plus with the usual Touch ID-equipped home button. Another option leans more into the 6.1-inch fullscreen display, similar to the iPhone 11 series.

Instead of the Face ID system, it will have a smaller notch with the standard selfie camera, microphone, and the earpiece/speaker. Touch ID will most likely be implemented on the power button, just like how we predicted it months ago.

There are still no rumors about the pricing but seeing as it carries the “SE” branding, it wouldn’t be stretch to think it would hover around just a little over the 2020 iPhone SE’s base price of US$ 399. Hopefully, Apple will keep the SE series a tradition, especially since smartphone pricing continues to get higher and higher each year.
